The Stillery's Most Floral Gin
Flowers first, juniper follows
Someone once told you every gin tastes of pine needles, and for a fair few gins they were right. Then spring arrives in Amsterdam: the verges go soft, the parks turn white with blackthorn blossom and even the cyclists slow down. Almost. This is the floral London Dry that tastes of that, made for the gin & tonic and for long summer evenings on the terrace.
SAY IT WITH FLOWERS
Most Floral: the name says it all. Since 2019 our master distiller Pascal has been bottling those spring weeks: 18 local botanicals, inspired by Amsterdam’s flowering verges and parks. Poppy, rosehip, jasmine, blackthorn blossom and daisy bring the flowers. Juniper, angelica and rhubarb root keep them in line.
LONDON CALLING
Yes, it’s a London Dry. No, we didn’t move to London: London Dry is a way of distilling, not an address. The rule says the flavour has to come from the still, so the fragile flowers go into a herb basket, where the vapour drifts through them instead of cooking them. Tea, not stew. Some juries file it under contemporary: a London Dry that went flower picking. Made in our distillery in the Amsterdam harbour.
Tasting notes: blossom and rosehip on the nose, like a verge in April. Jasmine and blackthorn blossom up front, juniper following at its own pace. Soft and round, with a gentle warmth on the finish. Lovely.
PEAR PRESSURE
Most Floral G&T: 50 ml Most Floral Gin, 150 ml neutral tonic, plenty of ice and a slice of dried Conference pear. Neutral, because this gin already brought the flowers. No patience for drying a pear (six hours at 55°C in a fan oven)? Just throw in a few blueberries.
Negroni: 50 ml Most Floral Gin, 50 ml Campari, 50 ml sweet vermouth, stirred over ice, finished with orange peel.
Fancy a fresh, salty Martini? Reach for its sister, the Dutch North Sea Gin. Not drinking tonight? Virgin 0.0 is the alcohol-free sister of our Most Floral Gin.
